Just maybe they are the best for the role, no more no less.

Yours comes from an actual fear of difference though. You fear other cultures and those who aren’t ethnically similar to you. You fear them because you think they want to change and takeover everything you believe in. You see the world changing around you and you are scared because it doesn’t look the same as it did when you were a boy.

We don’t fear this. We embrace the difference and listen and learn from those who are different to us and realise that hell, you know what, we’re not so different after all. We’re all just trying to love, be happy, and make a living to support ourselves in our families. It doesn’t make a difference where you are from, what you look like, what language you speak or what religion you may be. We all have way more in common than anyone might think or take the time to try and understand.

Embrace difference?, who actually voted to change this country, I don't remember being asked. How do you think the manifesto would read?

And yes I am scared, scared for my children, have you seen the crime and murders in black areas. Remember the croydon riots, croydon on fire, I won't go near West croydon.

Not once on this board has there been a decent answer to what equality means in reality. A lot of fumbling around the edges, a bit of aspirational stuff, a bit of moaning about other stuff, but no proper description of what the black people of this country want and what injustices they feel suffer they are suffering as opposed to any other section of the community.

I know rich black people and poor black people, I know rich white people and poor white people. What I don’t understand is why a minority feel they are more deserving than those of equivalent status amongst the majority. Are they saying they haven’t got the opportunity to improve their lot because I just don’t believe that in this country? It is as easy or as difficult as you want to make it yourself.

What about black on black killing each other daily, you lefties always brush that under the carpet. That's the culture you support

Are you serious?

This is a White country. 80% of people are White. I have no idea how many people are gay but let's go with 5%. Women are often bosses. I have worked for 4 women bosses over the years.

You are living in a delusion.

I see. So probably for the best then that politics is kept out of sport then?

You may laugh but I do find it staggering how narrow minded some of you are.

I was captain of my uni football first team in my last year just over a decade a go and after one game we realised we had 11 different nationalities in the starting line up (Eritrea nailing the niche spot). But that team I played in still had pints in the clubhouse/pub after and still drank cans on the train back from away games having the same stupid laddy football banter that every side I’ve ever played for has. That was a collection of people from all over the world but we still got on brilliantly and team spirit was up there in any side I’ve played in.

I find people with your outlook believe that everyone who looks different to you thinks differently too when it’s really quite the opposite. I have far more in common with my old teammates from Sweden, Ghana and Eritrea than I do with a lot of you old Brits on here. Generational difference is far greater than anything else.

Dan's United Nations of football. Feckin hilarious.

i bet there wasn't a corresponding female netball team ? that we can safely say. How many keep their women either back in the home-country or locked away behind closed doors in the UK ?

Hey Dan, in all your PC equality, where is the Gender-Equality ? We are not seeing boatloads and planeloads of women's netball teams arriving into the UK, why is that ?

but we do seem to be getting lots of single young men ? Taking the knee about how unfair is life in a country you have chosen to live in.

Can i suggest you visit Saudi and 'take the knee' for the poor underprivileged rights of christians ?

I recall you started a thread on this topic Palazio, so it clearly rankles with you. But I must say I agree that the way women are treated in some countries is dreadful.

As for the small boatloads of, mainly males, coming here, illegally, from France every day they are carrying Covid at a rate 20 times greater than currently exists here. Thanks very much.

I stick to my view that taking the knee is now just a symbolic gesture and we should find other ways to stop abuse, if that's ever possible.

If I were at a live match I don't think I'd boo though. Sends the wrong message as we've seen with Gareth's misguided response.

Dad and I watched games standing on the muddy slope of the Holmesdale Road end. He cheered and I rattled.

Awful knowing about and being interested in the people you spend time with isn’t it.

No, I knew how many because I was one of the very few people with access to personnel records.

In those days, race simply wasn't an issue in that firm- and remember, we went out on physical audits to clients all over the country then, so you frequently spent a week or two working and eating with your colleagues, so you got to know quite a bit about them and their families and, yes, their cultural and social backgrounds too.

All just a part of everyday working life that no-one gave any thought too, because it simply didn't matter where they came from, black or white - they were workmates: some you liked as a person, some you didn't. Bit like the rest of life!

Unfortunately, the bbc have re-spun this story from earlier, the original had the lead that the ROI Manager, Kenny, was 'deeply shocked' with the booing

There's going to be a LOT more of it when the Euro's start on Friday, especially in eastern europe as well as this country. How Uefa deal with it, remains to be seen, being beamed around the globe, sponsors wont be happy & i cant see any of this ending well.
