These are fair points, though let's remember that the market has decided that wrestling and the like should be considered novelty entertainment events rather than competitive and ability based and that boxing shift more the same way. Maybe Hearn and co shouldn't have been so eager to cash in initially and unleash popular mediocrity into a sport that already had enough problems in that department to due boxing politics mismatches. We all like a visit to the circus; I just hope the whole sport doesn't become one as consequence of new fans caring more about celebrity than ability.

If it settles at a point where it has the best of both worlds and brings in new fans though, yes I can see the positives. Boxing had been losing some support to UFC and the like (primarily because they at least get on with things and give the fans the fights they want), so it might help stem that!

What stops people watching boxing is the lack of decent fights because promoters and TV companies shield their asset.

The consumer gets given as bad a deal as they think they can get away with. To be fair to boxing it's not just them.....it's cricket, football and every other sport that's commercialised.....in the past sport wasn't taken away from you dependent upon your income anything like it is today.....I have to admit, I've never been ok with it. I think with the national teams they shouldn't be able to get away with it.

I'm all for the market but the consumer also needs to throw their weight around more.

As is probably known on this site I'm no fan of the concept of equality. That said, boxing is so incredibly lop sided on purses that I can't deny it causes me disquiet. The grass roots suffer overly in my view....I'll give AJ his due on putting back but what has Fury done for the grass roots?

Fury has tested positive I wonder if he has been vaccinated? Apparently vaccine take up amongst the traveller community has been low.

It does make you wonder.. Annoying that its has been derailed anyway, as it likely kicks the potential AJ fight afterwards well into the long grass now.

Having the jab doesn't prevent you getting it.
Tests have been proven to be innacurate anyway(see the Lions tour , positive one day negative the next).
If he's actually ill fair enough.
( this will probably upset one particular covid zealot on here)

Well, I mean it certainly does make you less likely to get covid (and if you do, symptoms will typically not be as bad and hospitalisation less likely). Important to convey the facts.

Multiple members of his camp tested positive. But in any case, it's unfortunate timing that's for sure. Though boxing is always plagued with fights falling through at the last minute for one reason or another..

Joe Joyce v Carlos Takam on the 24th of this month at the SSE.

Decent little scrap this. Takam probably seen better days but still got something, plus he’s been in with everyone.

It has no effect on infection.
It can lessen symptoms which varies from person to person.
The main thing is to stop testing healthy people with unreliable tests.
If he has no symptoms and is healthy the fight should go ahead.

That is entirely the opposite of what studies on the vaccine have demonstrated. Feel free to read them. In wide scale studies depending on vaccine and variant they cut actual infections by 60-90%.

As for Fury fighting I would imagine that there are a myriad of reasons why this would complicate things. His health, his opponents, insurance and so on. It's not optimal to agree to fight when for all he knows he might feel like hell in a few days, or at least not optimal. It's not ideal, but delaying the fight was inevitable.

Good spot. For me, this is Joyce's for the taking. I can see a mid rounds stoppage. Should be a good dust up.
