Yes, it’s someone from Ukraine requesting help. It makes for good reading but why should we be that bothered as an individual nation. If China invades Taiwan which could happen will we provide the same support for Taiwan?

What about South Korea, North Korea, what would we do? We didn’t support the Uyghurs did we? Why not.

Lots of s*** in this world, why is this one so important for us as a country as opposed to others?

If Russia are successful what message does that send to China and the rules based order in the world. What is the cost supporting Ukraine fighting an aggressor who has made clear his ambition is not just in Ukr. We are not paying with our lives

No, you show resolve and present a united face. You don't threaten, or allow the perception of a threat to exist. Nato doesn't threaten. It does the opposite. It deters threats. Putin wants to portray Russia as under threat from Nato to justify his actions and with his control over the media that is easy in his own country. Not so elsewhere. Nato needs to make its deterrent role abundantly clear and understood on the world stage. Eventually that message will also penetrate into Russia too. Nato must, and will, not allow a single foot of theirs to enter Ukraine in any kind of offensive way. You don't offer a glimmer of an excuse to Putin.

The individual Nato members supporting Ukraine with weapons is not an involvement of Nato. That message, that distinction, needs to be made all the time, everywhere. Putin's arguments need to be destroyed, alongside his army.

We then must be patient. The economic sanctions will take time and are hurting us as much as they hurt the Russians. The short term impact is clear, but it's the longer term which matters most. We will no longer trust Russia as a reliable energy partner. If they use energy supplies as a weapon, that distrust will only harden, and not just with the west. If they are prepared to do it to us, then they will to anyone who gets in their way. They will have to rebuild that trust with ironclad guarantees. That won't happen with this regime.

The hot war will end, but the new economic one has only just begun. It's not a Cold War of the kind we saw before, but the clock has definitely been sent backwards

Well said

Almost certainly not, because it doesn't threaten us or, more importantly, any other Nato member. Taiwan is destined to become part of China eventually. I believe they have no need to take it by force and risk sanctions and the threat to their markets. The Chinese are smart and also patient. They see the benefit of Hong Kong being a different model, even if they wish to hold the controls over the model. The same is likely to happen in Taiwan, but very, very slowly. The whole of SE Asia will eventually be in the Chinese sphere of influence. It's already happening now, and the USA won't risk a confrontation to try to stop it.

That's delusional.

I find your opinions to be irrational so it's better if you post at others, at least on this topic.

Still no efforts being made to bring this war to an end.
