Should we emerge victorious against Sheff Utd, the animus towards Mr Hodgson will dissipate to a degree.

A defeat and supporters will be boiling with enmity hot as a deep-fat fryer.

There could be an exceedingly toxic atmosphere at Selhurst Park on Tuesday.

very true Willo.

There are good reasons we were beaten so badly last outing that I have posted elsewhere, and not all relating to our poor team, set-up, and coaching. The next game will not feature all those factors and it will be a more "normal" encounter between two mediocre teams where we will emerge a little less mediocre with a 1-0 win.

However, fans will not embrace the 3 points, the improvement or the clean sheet. They will decry the dullness of the performance, the fact that the blades were there for the taking and a decent Palace side with the current crop of players could and should have stuffed the opposition.

Personally I think they have decided that Roy's time is up before the end of the season and that's it's just a matter of timing, least disruption and the replacement.

If we go on a run of narrow wins, slim defeats and a hatful of draws, he will keep his job and keep us up as the mounting anger builds. The club (hopefully?!) has a plan for the summer and Roy can depart with grace.

Lose a few more with dismal performances and out he goes with little ceremony. In fact, lose the next one and the door beckons.

Then they have the timing wrong.

There was a sizeable gap between the Arsenal and Sheffield United games.

Surely the best time to install a new manager if that is the intention.

Your last few words have highlight the real problem, replace him with who?, there is no decent manager available that would want to take the job at CP ,it’s toxic under Parish, the board can’t get on with each other, there very little cash for team investment and most of all the manager have no say in what type of players come in that’s a decision that Parish controls with Freedman !

I can’t help but have this feeling we’re about to witness another result and performance like the 0-4 to Sunderland in Allardyce’s reign.

Sheff Utd will be up for this and our management will send us out with “keep
It tight”, rather than take the impetus.

That first goal goes in early and it could turn very nasty.

An early goal to Sheff Utd and Selhurst Park will be awash with snarling Rottweilers with dripping fangs.Shot and shell will rain down from the stands.

Chris Wilders Sheffield team is is not the push over it was before he arrived. They will push us all the way no matter which team we can put out. Quit honestly if it’s no Olize,on the day ,the chances are that just as in recent games we won’t score in particular against the resolute defence Wilder has put in place.

Agreed. It's seems reasonable to conclude that when the board decided Vieira's time was up they had no other option lined up and so reached out to Hodgson. They appear to be in the same position now.

Big Sam apparently doesn't think Roy will last the season - and unlike many of us he's worked in football and has some experience....
Perhaps Big Sam is hoping for the call in the not too distant future, not that I think one will be forthcoming.
