Thank you ME, interesting indeed, sounds like he’s off. Roy’s comment has always been the case. But Parish knows when a manager has had his time so I expect he isn’t going to get an extension. Probably why it was always one year added on.

Roy, obviously loves the game., As he stood on the terrace,s and went through the youth system here. Added to that his options now have got to be limited. Will his missus, want more change.? So he might say yes to a contract, but I don’t think his world will hang on it. Because he well knows he can not do more without more support from his bosses.

Longtime reader of the board, first-time poster. There seems to be a massive disconnect between the Board, the sporting director and the manager. Based off Roy's comments over the past few years, it is clear that he has little-to-no input on the club's transfer policy. He takes the players given to him, some who he probably doesn't even want, and his able to get the club to grind out results, even if the football can be dull. With this in mind, I'm firmly in the Roy In camp until we have some idea as to what the Board and Dougie are trying to accomplish. We have no cogent transfer policy. Would it surprise anyone that even with all the players that will be out of contract this summer, that the club has not yet developed a firm plan as to how to rebuild? If the Board is willing to spend something like 40-50M on transfers this summer, then it would make complete sense to bring in a new manager and let him have a real say in how the club is constructed. Let the new manager, maybe one from the Championship, target the players that will be brought in (hopefully they are in their early 20's!). But if that doesn't happen, I don't see how Palace would be an attractive job for a manager. To that end, I would posit that Roy may be the best that we could do and, as supporters, we should hope that Roy keeps us up while we wait for the Board to get its act together. I'm certainly understand the desire of many on this forum for Palace to play a more entertaining brand of football. I would love to see it too! But I just don't see how we get to that point (while still being remotely competitive) until the Board changes the way it does business. There needs to be at least modest investment this summer while allowing whoever the manager may be to have a greater say in the matter. Just my two cents. COYP!

I want change and it is so easy to blame RH, IMO al lot of the problems are down to our disastrous transfer policy. I am sure if RH was able to choose his own players then things would be different. I just hope things get better in the recruitment department sooner rather than later.

ChicagoPalace, I agree with your comment but would also add in the issue of timing.

And if that is the case, in that we are essentially bringing the band together, that would be unfortunate. At some point, there needs to be an infusion of youth into the club, and a clear identity. A forward-thinking Board should take advantage of the unfortunate times we are living in and target clubs in the Championship, League One, etc who are in financially precarious positions as a result of Covid-19. Palace should attempt to start buying players while agreeing to loan them back for the 21/22 season. This could be a more frugal way to add several young players for the 22/23 campaign while capitalising on a once-in-a-lifetime event. Some club is going to take this approach and will reap its rewards.

That’s not particularly true, that Parish knows when a manager has had his time. He has only sacked Warnock, Pardew and De Boer, Holloway gave up, Freeman deserted to Bolton, Pulis and Allardyce both resigned.

But I think he did get rid of Pardew when it was time. He could’ve done so after the cup final, but we aren’t man utd, are we? The other issue there was Pardew was a yes man for self preservation and let Parish equip him with 6 defenders and Zeki Fryers. Holloway was nudged. Parish couldn’t stand FDB. I think there was a breaking of trust from what FDB agreed in interview to what he did in practice. Maybe you’re right and he’ll keep extending Roy. But then he might have people whispering in his ear that Roy isn’t going to or doesn’t play emerging players enough and therefore isn’t the person for the next couple of seasons.
