Sudetenland also began long before German annexation. And it is not difficult to make parallels with Sudetenland or western Poland or Alsace Lorraine or, indeed, Schleswig Holstein where the Germans used the incorporation of already existing German speakers into the Fatherland as the excuse to annex. However, while you can make some comparisons with Hitler, it won't help in understanding or resolving the current crisis. Hitler wanted a war with Bolshevism, he saw it as existential to German survival. The only parallel that works here is the Putin sees a pro Russian or neutral Ukraine as existentially important to Russia. This war is essentially a battle of loss....who is prepared to lose more to keep the Ukraine as they want it. Edited by Stirlingsays (21 Sep 2022 1.33pm)

NATO, EU and US need to cop onto themselves and stop antagonising Russia! Zelenski needs to sit down and do a deal all he has to say is that ukraine will not join nato and all this goes away! its that simple. And we continue to send billions to the most corrupt country in the world!

I'm just happy for people to have their pointless war at this point. I'm totally fed up with it all. Apparently I'm the 'appeaser' but if someone wants peace in Russia I'm sure they would be called something else. Fed up with it, 'appeaser' is what all peace makers are called and its mostly by morons......I've made my positions clear and instead we will see the consequences of the neo cons....economic stupidity. If we survive, I say we are all going to end up in a worse situation with a big fat nothing burger to show for it. But I'm resigned to it now. Oh and what would life be like if we hadn't put ourselves into two world wars? Leicester would still be English that's one outcome. We wouldn't have an expanding Mosque building programme and growing tensions between expanding populations of Hindus and Muslims (the Muslims will force them out into their own areas eventually)
That is simply untrue. An appeaser gives way to a bully, which results in the bully being emboldened and makes the situation worse. A peacemaker finds compromises between two opposing positions and is able to find reconciliation. One runs away from conflict. The other runs towards it to make peace. Peacemakers are not pacifists, who shy away from conflict. There is a "golden moment" when interests collide and the peacemaker can emerge. This may be it.

Zelensky is their puppet now...well he always was a puppet but that's another story. The fact is whatever he does his life is at high risk....make peace and be assassinated or carry on and be assassinated or blown up. Russia are essentially doubling their manpower here.....personally I think they need at least 500, not 300 thousand more to win quickly like they think....but we will find out. I wonder how long it will take for them to deploy them. Edited by Stirlingsays (21 Sep 2022 1.43pm)

Waffle merchant. I'm not interested in your traumatized playground analogies.

Yet another reply that cannot squarely face the truth, so resorts to insult. Instructive that American spelling is used again. A not uncommon event. Why is this? Does it suggest the source of the thinking isn't in the Fens? It's far from just my analogy. Try this for confirmation:- My visitors are from the USA. They have much more sympathy for Trump than I do, although not blind adherence. I don't think they would vote for him again. However, they are right behind the way the USA is supporting Ukraine and remarkably well-informed about the war. No backsliding on view from them. Which both surprised and pleased me.

Completely subjective, like everything else you say. I'm not interested in what you think or your inventions. You are a physical coward who wants to cheer on other people fighting for your causes, even when some of them are forced to. Post at someone else.....you are a comment stalker.

Unlike Russia, which encourages corruption to maintain control over powerful individuals, Ukraine is not amongst the most corrupt nations. It is 15 countries less corrupt than Russia but I shan’t be buying a timeshare there any time soon. Most corrupt is South Sudan, least corrupt New Zealand, Finland and Denmark Interestingly Estonia is at a similar ranking to Britain Edited by Mapletree (21 Sep 2022 2.42pm)

So you'd agree with me in criticising his stalking if I didn't post at him (which we both know happened for a long time)? Na, you don't really give a hoot.....you just love your 'granite shoreline' because you're from the same shoreline. Personally I think that granite is full of something porous.

No, granite doesn’t contain anything porous. Granite is massive (lacking any internal structures), hard, and tough.
