'fit', 'managing the event', 'managing the people'. Shame it doesn't say anything about making the right decisions.

That is implied as far as I am concerned.

Regards Moss, it has been suggested in this thread that he had a basic misunderstanding in the Law regarding the Lukaku free-kick.I cannot believe that any PL referee is lacking in this respect. It is clear that Moss felt that Delaney had made contact with Jagielka hence the award of a direct free-kick.

How is it clear? Has he said such? Keith Hackett seems to think he's made a huge cock up. It was obvious even in real time that he hadn't touched him, even Jagielka's reaction should have told him that - if he was unsure, I'm cartain the linesman could have helped clarify. It's a mistake, an honest mistake but a bad mistake nonetheless which is ultimately a key decision that he got wrong.

I suppose you are what used to be called an old fashioned conservative. You exist in a self deluded bubble where the police are actually like those in Dixon of dock green and authority figures (unless they are left leaning) are competent and worthy of respect.

Now I don't doubt that refereeing the epl is a tough game and everyone makes mistakes. However, in this case the error was so glaring that Keith Hackett has gone on record to say moss should be stood down. Either he erred on the law; or he missed from close range a chasm between Delaney's boot and jagielka's head and the fact that the latter dipped his head to buy the free kick while Delaney clearly attempted to withdraw to avoid contact.

The thing is if Moss made a mistake then so did our players none of them questioned a direct free kick at the time. Both of the decisions were wrong but understandable so as they were very close calls. The booking were all deserved, players must learn if they want to dispute a decision be respectful about it.

That's actually a very good point. You could argue that they were put off complaining because of the 2 bookings for arguing but that would be an excuse - there would be nothing wrong with the captain politely questioning it.

While I was as angry as the next man about the general refereeing performance of Moss in the Everton game and I'm often in disagreement with Willo the above bollox is far more grinding to me. Its not FACT is it,its your opinion in a similar way to the one that you are steaming into Willo for.We all know what it should have been and that would include Moss once he'd watched the replays but in real time it's completely different. You,Hackett or even Dixon of Dock Green would make mistakes in that or similar situations its called human error and its part and parcel of decision making without the necessary technology.Using "fact" on a forum when it quite obviously isn't is as much trolling as anything else designed to provoke a reaction. I don't think Willo is a troll in the same way I don't think you are.He may well enjoy the attention he gets from being controversial but I firmly believe his opinons are exactly that despite finding myself muttering out loud occasionally when I read them.

The last three people who had made enquiries of the referee had had their names taken. No evidence that they were less than respectful about it. Usually players talk to the ref all the time and hardly ever get booked, this ref seemed to card anyone who failed to call him "Sir".

as should be the way as in rugby - no one questions the officials there.

Actually they do but it's only the Captain that can approach the ref and politely ask him a question. Any other player arguing the toss and the ref imposes an immediate 10 yard penalty against his team.

has Willo given his explanation as to what (if anything did) went wrong with this decision?

surely if Dammo had've connected with his head it wouldve been noticed?

Just to clarify, I certainly don't take an alternative viewpoint just to be controversial nor to seek attention.I just give my honest opinion which of course is at variance with many from time to time.

Regards the Lukaku incident I can forgive both Moss and the Assistant for not noticing that there was no contact as it really looked in real-time that there had been some contact. These people are only human after all.
