He was hit by a marine flare. I don't think anyone here is condoning the use of what is basically a firework being aimed at people. Smoke bombs and the flare used at Stamford Bridge on Saturday aren't a marine flare. Flares I can understand the concern, but smoke bombs I don't see the issue.

But yes, let's use misinformation and fear mongering, rather than having an actual discussion using facts.

I have a life, but it doesn't include bringing fireworks with me to a football match,or vandalising an opponent's ground. Call me old fashioned but I go to watch the football and have scream and shout when necessary.

I hope you realize screaming and shouting could burst someone's eardrums frighten children and spoil other fans match day experience. I certainly don't want to go back to the 70's and 80's with screaming fans stuck behind fences scaring the hell out of me. Oh no sir defiantly no

ok, a discussion using facts.

people smuggled in flares and fireworks which factually, is against the law. YOU choose to look at it as fun and should be allowable. The fact is that it isn't allowable, however much 'fun' it may be.

Whoever it was, HF or no HF is a tool and it should be them that the fans look to when they get a bit strong-armed by the stewards/police at the next away match, rather than whining about heavy handed coppers and stewards.

It's always the majority who suffer for the idiocy of the few.

I'm assuming a home made smoke bomb, which tend to be similar to flares? We used to make these for paintball games, and they burn pretty hot. Also if you don't add a moderation chemical or sufficient moderator, its effectively an explosive.

Even commercially available ones are classed as a pyrotechnic, because they are effectively a explosive reaction, which is controlled by the moderating chemical slowing the oxidiser and the accelerant.

Shouting at a football match is a pretty reasonable expectation and a continual factor. Smoke bombs, bangers aren't. Social contract, people expect certain things at a sporting event. Its also continual, as in not a surprise.

Now whether we should is another matter.

See that I completely agree with, as the law stays as it is, I don't want to see us sanctioned by the FA or the police. What other people are saying is that that shouldn't be the law which is a major debate in football at the moment.
