He has been getting confused a wee bit recently. Best just to pander to it like you would a very old person.

Not much in life doesn't have a degree of self interest to it, but we still live in a society where it benefits people to get along. Someone going down on one knee isn't something that's particularly new and has a certain dignity and purpose to it if that's a persons heart felt view.

Telling people should be glad not to be shot in the head for doing so is on another level, and a president calling a bunch of black guys who aren't going to damage his populist appeal 'sons of bitches' who should be fired is the actions of a manchild. Of course not a word on here about any of the latter because in solely attacking the players and leaving trump and the 'shot in the head' crowd alone it's a cowardly and convenient way of expressing a preference without directly stating it.

You can spin and waffle the topic all day but politcal protest by sportsman during a sports event is an inappropriate use of position and exposure.

I'll just copy and paste that to save time later.

With your constant derailing comebacks you're like the sassy gay friend of the forum. It's good to have a variety. Keep it up, gurl!

I responded in a perfectly calm, reasoned and fair way to you, simply offering my point of view on the matter. If to you that's someone spinning or waffling then so be it.

Why, surely its exactly the right time and place, when they have a public forum. If you can't protest when you have public focus on you is at its highest, when could you.

To me, this sounds like people closing down free speech and free expression of ideas.

When the national anthem is playing, and the world is watching, is exactly the right time to take a stand.

The Russians and Americans did a tit for tat boycott. I approved of neither, but at least they just didn't turn up.

Let's see if our Gridiron playing friends don't turn up for their massively well paid jobs.

I doubt it.

What's your surname, Rooney?

And how did you feel about Thatcher using Zola Budd for political ends? Bet you couldn't keep that disgust and disappointment quiet back then. Or not.

Me derailing! I started the thread to suggest we get rid of anthems at sporting events - only Stirling has addressed the idea - everyone else has adopted their predictable positions (many of them up their backsides of course).
PS: What is the face paint about?

So you are happy for any protest at football matches?

How about an anti mass immigration one at Selhurst next week?

How about no.
I expect your support would evaporate when the protest was not to your liking.

Politics has no place in sport.
