Apparently, (see link in post above), it is all to do with a family of Eastern European gypsies - woman and 3 children leave husband/partner and moved to safe house in midlands, gets found, family members come up to take revenge. They think that the acid may have been meant for the mother, but got the child instead.

She and other children have now been moved on again to another 'safe' house.

I consider my self an immigrant living and working in Spain. I think expat is used by the nations inhabitants to describe people who have left their country of origin and gone and worked or retired abroad, I.e we call British people living abroad expats just like, maybe, the eastern Europeans call their citizens expats when living abroad.
The country you have chosen to live however, its citizens, will call you immigrants.

No. The problem is that virtually every negative story you see is related in some way to immigrants.
When you open your door to the dregs of the world along with the decent people, this is the result.

Exactly, maybe one day the penny will drop and they realise the "news" is they are being fed is mostly right wing propaganda aimed at causing division and disharmony

When the news broke there was no reference to race or anything related. In fact, references to race, religion, culture, ethnicity are usually hidden these days. Such as the 'man' who stabbed thirteen people on a German bus or the Toronto 'gunman' who killed several people and wounded loads of others. It took days before the press mentioned their names and even then, there is no mention of their obvious Muslim religious background.
