I'll go to the V&A, the Wallace Collection, the Dulwich Picture Gallery, the Sir John Soane Museum or the Courtalds if I need some white British culture. Answer the question.

I've answered the question. There is a lot they could cover in a museum like that......As it would be celebrating white culture though perhaps the narrative wouldn't be to your liking.....no doubt. Edited by Stirlingsays (03 Feb 2019 12.19pm)

Well in that case I can recommend two books by CLR James. Beyond a Boundary is imho the best book about cricket ever written. The Black Jacobins is his seminal account of the San Domingo slave revolution that resulted in the establishment of Haiti the world's first black republic. Pleading ignorance is a cop out. Anyone with half a brain who's been to Liverpool understands something about white culture in the Caribbean. A once wealthy city that no longer serves any economic purpose.

That's your obsession with slavery. Slavery is certainly a topic I would think should be covered in any museum focused upon a racial group as every group has engaged in it.....And still are. I don't live there but they could also include the welfare, legal and education systems, religion....lots of stuff.....family histories of predominant people. They would be celebrating white culture.....so it's up to them. But I repeat....I don't live in the Caribbean......and I don't think it's a good idea. Liverpool 'no longer serves any economic purpose'?......blimey.

It makes a difference to some,but personally speaking as someone who has a white sister in law and a white brother in law,mixed race nieces and nephew makes no difference at all. Wherever you come from it's always good to embrace your culture. Arnt most black and mixed race people from britain?

When I went to the open air Anglo Saxon museum I can't say I was clenching my fists at the fact that there was no black presence. By the same token I can imagine that learning about the history and experiences of black Britons would be worthwhile, and I wouldn't be bothering myself or anyone else over the nature of what that museum offered either.

I think a black cultural museum is a great idea. Why shouldn't we embrace Marcus Garvey,Nelson Mandela,Bob Marley etc. Indeed. But why does it have to be 'Black history' and not just History? History is history. I don't accept that you have to be Black to appreciate Black contributions any more than one has to be Egyptian to appreciate the Pyramids.
