Never thought I would hear myself saying this but I would love to shag the Home Secretary.

It's kind of ironic because she's the only one with balls that we have had for a while.

Couldn’t find a happier go luckier person on the planet mate. Getting on with things and not spending my life moaning on the internet is very good for your mental wellbeing. Try it some time!

We can keep bumping this post up every time there's a new Home Secretary now!

Untrue. It's the party system which has decided which way they choose their leaders.

Parliament itself has not yet woken up to the fact that this means they don't get to choose who is the PM.

I hope there is a very swift vote of no confidence in the government which succeeds, and that a coalition emerges of those who oppose the current Tory government direction together with sufficient Tory "rebels" to make it stick, and they can then form a new government of national unity ready to renegotiate a deal with the EU. If that doesn't work then a GE would follow, which would be a disaster with Corbyn not yet replaced.

And when Boris wins that election will you still be "beefing" about lack of democracy? Presumably you and other posters on here will not accept the result.
As a matter of interest what are your views of when Blair handed over to Brown, when 0% of population got to choose?

The point you make rerown is just as valid, it was not quite the coup that this is though.

The UK has only a very tenuous connection with democracy, Putin may be right that it's all over for social democracies in the west.

You are wrong about elections though, I can't remember any occasion when an election result was not accepted.

Every PM needs to be chosen by the MP's alone. So the involvement of Labour's NEC in Brown's coronation was wrong in my view, although not as wrong as the way Johnson was finally chosen.

If Johnson makes an electoral pact with Farage just to try to force a "no-deal" Brexit over the line then I hope he is soundly defeated. Of course the result would be accepted. That's the system we have. That doesn't though mean that a fight to reverse the decision wouldn't then begin probably alongside another to try to avoid the break up of the UK.

I was watching the BBC News last night and they were interviewing various members of the public asking them whether they thought Boris would make a good PM but I'm sure that they searched out the most stupid looking passers by to talk to.

Parties elect a leader who on occasions, like Boris become PM, or not as in the case of the new Lib Dem leadership.Corbyn of course became leader but not PM as a consequence.
Many will argue that members of political parties should have a say in electing a leader of their respective parties.
