I have never been on any web forum that contains more self righteous drivel than this one. All of it coming from the right wing contributors who dominate these pages, with one or two being stand out examples of the sub species . It is for that reason that I have restricted my contributions during the election period as experience teaches that changing such minds is a hopeless task. I concentrated on left wing sites attempting to find a way of them dumping Corbyn before it was too late but they are every bit as blind to reason as those on the right. So we ended up exactly as I expected and predicted. Many middle ground voters were often forced as a consequence to have to decide between the unacceptable and the unelectable.

Not that I expect many here to realise that, let alone accept it! Many here seem to think that everyone is as positive as they are about this issue.

In the cold light of day, you may wish to reconsider this statement and accept that the remain/left wing leaning posters on here have done their share, including you if I may be so bold

The sorest losers in history. They just don't give up do they? Excuses, excuses, excuses.

McDonnell speaking on Andrew Marr Show a few minutes ago has now latched on to the 'Media smears on Jeremy" were reason Labour was defeated. He's still desperately smearing Johnson at the same time - usual "liar, etc".

Why don't they just shut up, give up, resign, and make room for a Labour bunch who the electorate will actually believe and vote for.

So, in short:
- the driveling right wingers don't want to listen to you,

- you agree that your ability to change minds is a hopeless task

- the left wing sites are blind to the reason you are offering them

Is there a pattern emerging here somewhere?

Can everyone else really be so wrong?

Still,I understand Jesus had the same problems back in the day

Nothing wrong with making excuses as long as they are the right ones but to try and blame Labour's losses on the media smearing Jeremy is just laughable.

Is this part of the period of reflection that Jeremy asked for?

To be fair, the mass media did salughter Corbyn. Now I would argue that a man who shares space with terrorist organisations and proclaims them as friends opens himself up to that but we have to be honest about it. The coverage was not fair. I can see that despite positioning myself as the very antithesis of what Corbyn stands for.

But the press slaughtered him in 2017 and he still managed to do alright.

Mmmmm.

I wonder what changed this time around.....?

No, he’s asking because he hasn’t got one.

As I have told you countless times I am, and have always been, traditionally a Tory voter. I am just not a right wing Tory. I side with the Ken Clark, Michael Heseltine view of Tory politics and take exactly the same approach as they both do over Brexit.

The current Labour party are the primary cause of this debacle. Without their weakness Brexit would not have happened.

Let's see which type of Tories are in power for the coming decade. If the ERG are consigned to being a noisy but ineffective nuisance again and true "One Nation" Conservatism triumphs, then I won't be unhappy at all. With a soft Brexit, a very close alignment with the EU and a big distance from Trump then all should be OK.

the fact that your thoughtful, carefully worded and entirely objective analysis is taken as left-wing griping is a telling reflection on the utter numpties making easy two or three word jibes - the fact you have been consistently open as a conservative voter as well says a great deal - you are wasted here, not a place for moderation and intelligence, the mud slinging against you is from the same place as the mud slinging against various politicians, it's not really about views or principles, it's more about people lacking in intelligence insulting other people's intelligence - literally.

It's true that the media attacked Corbyn that's because they had plenty of ammunition. It's not a smear if it's the truth.

It's a pity Mcdonnell wasn't asked which smear he was referring to. Corbyn did meet the IRA he did call Hamas his friends he did go to a funeral of a terrorist etc. etc. Senior security officials did say he was a security risk, do you not report that?

And Johnson had a shed load of abuse over his personal life. Elections these days are dirty I am sorry to say.
Johnson may have the majority of the media on his side but Labour had social media largely on their side. Both sides told lies and used PR stunts. Anyone that thinks that Labour was clean whilst the Tories played dirty is just naive.

Now some of this from Labour maybe bravado and away from the camera a more thoughtful examination will happen. But if you take what the Momentum and the Corbyn followers say at face value then they have already decided it's not their fault so any review will no doubt be a whitewash, step forward Baroness Chakrabati.

The old fashioned written media has less influence now than it did in it's heyday but the BBC is still a major influencer and they were smearing Boris as much if not more than Corbyn.

It was the BBC that wouldn't give up trying to get dirt out of Jennifer Arcuri or made a huge meal out of the non publishing of the report on Russian interference or spent several days discussing Boris's reaction to the boy sleeping on the coats and it was the BBC that headlined for several days Boris not making an appointment to be interviewed by Andrew Neill and they also made Boris's refusal to discuss his children headlines for a few days
