There are way too many contradictions in the advice and instructions given for people to take what the government are saying seriously. Is it beneficial to wear a face covering, probably. However if you are not having to wear it in certain places then they are more or less saying it is not essential. Very easy to be confused by all this, so might be better off taking the Swedish route.

Yep. Where are all the shelf stackers and jumper folders in intensive care? Oh there aren’t any. If there was anything minor to report the press would claim life expectancy working in a shop would be very short indeed. This will include workers of all ages. No crisis there whatsoever.

In Ireland, we can drink in the pub as long as we spend €9 on food. I'm glad that the food provides immunity to the virus.

"Researchers at the University of Oxford believe they have made a breakthrough in the development of a coronavirus vaccine.

Human trials are reported to have shown promising results after the team discovered the jab could provide "double protection" against the virus.

Blood samples taken from volunteers in phase one trials have shown the vaccine stimulated the body to produce antibodies and T-cells, according to a report in The Daily Telegraph.

T-cells play a central part in the body's immune response." [Link]

We keep hearing or reading of hopeful vaccines. I think I read of one at stage 3. This one is at stage 1. Until 1 passes safety tests I’m not counting on any of them working. The Coronavirus vaccine success rate is zero isn’t it? Be great if they do of course, but I wouldn’t count on everyone being vaccinated for a long time anyway.

When I hear anybody mention the next hopeful vaccine I always notice the belief they have it’ll work and cure the issue.

Covid-19 may be natures correction on population?

There are a lot of covid-19 things in my mind, mainly that we have to think out of the box, as governments and scientists appear to have nothing to offer.

But really that it is here to stay and how can we learn to live with it.

Not doing a very good job of it. This first wave is a very small dent in the population, mainly old people dying and up to half of them worldwide are in care homes. It might even make people live healthier and live longer.

Interesting article from the Guardian about what went wrong in the EU. Made a lot of sense until right at the end the of article it said the solution is to give the EU commission more power. Yup same old Remainer Guardian.

Possibly but voices I trust are voicing some doubts about just how 'natural' this wretched virus might be. I must admit that to start with I dismissed all claims about this virus being a lab creation as silver foil hat wearing guff but am having to reassess that now.

I get lost in the science but there is something about how the protein strands look, especially the part that impacts on transmission that does not look right. The way I understand it is that a virus such as this should evolve into being like this, not just emerge 'oven-ready'. And htat you would expect it to be at least a couple of decades before it became like that, meaning that a wider herd protection would already have become entrenched in humanity, limiting its ability to spread even more. Now it is stressed that it is possible for this to be a natural evolution but the odds are significantly against it.

Because it spreads, in optimimum conditions, at a staggering rate. Documented cases from Spain of 60 plus infections from a single person at a single event. Heard of one today from Croatia in which a national returned from abroad, took the lift to her flat and isolated herself. But that the virus remained in lift itself then caused 50 plus others to catch it.

Now I cannot 100% vouch for this Croatian case as I read it in a translation but the Spanish cases, and similar in other European countrys, are absolutely kosher so this Covid can spread incredibly quickly.

Something is really off about it. Pure speculation on my part but I suspect the West are convinced it was an accidental release from the facility in Wuhan but the Chinese will never admit it.

Lets see. Hindsight on this b****** is going to be a horrendously wonderful thing me thinks.

* My bad on the Croatian story. It was not actually in Croatia but reported in the Croatian press. But supposedly 71 people infected. That will teach me to be a smarty pants and try and quote foreign sources.

I take the virus being in the lift as probably on surfaces and buttons. I don’t reckon it floats in the air and long enough to infect that many people. They probably all touched doors before getting in the lift.

It is possible I guess. The Spanish incident was at a Roma funeral so it is is possible that they all huddled together as part of the grieving process. I spoke to somebody I know in Madrid who said there had been similar cases at evangelical Christian groups.

But out in the open then UV light seems to wipe it out PDQ. I see specualation in the early days that they thought it was possible that it was being spread by people using petrol pumps but not seen any follow up on that of late.

I can believe it spreads at funerals.

I always use a disposable glove at the petrol station now. I also try not to use my hand on doors. Elbow, cuff, shirt, jacket will do.
