When it is safe enough to resume voices at the Proms, then the new DG should replace 'Land of Dope and Tory' with 'Glad all Over', it is merely a coincidence that he is a Palace fan.

Don't forget it all started here 200 years ago, well before 'Land of Dope and Tory' and the 20th century slaughters on the battlefields of Europe that Elgar's 'toon' gave encouragement to.

The whole 'Proms' episode is a typical tory fabrication, made to encourage your Britishness and call everybody traitors and hatred of foreigners, when it simply never happened.

I guess we could blame the second world war on Wagner but that would be bollocks too.

WOW! Where did THAT come from?

Seems my military service & serving in the Falklands are so well received by people like you. Hope you feel safe & comefortable in you bed at night. WE, the services used these songs to empower & cheer us up, we'd sing them with gusto & meaning.

Still, you obviously have a different agenda, good luck.

Is this an attempt at humour? If so, you failed.

Well, i thought it was moderately funnier than yours. I mean, who sings 'land of hope and glory' for a laugh? Try Monty Python's 'Always look on the bright side of life', a far more fitting testament to the english character.

There is an entire new generation who don’t understand. It’s also difficult for me to understand the lack of appreciation shown to those who were willing to give their lives whichever war they were in.

The modern lefties probably think we should just have rolled over and handed GB to Germany twice and our islands in the Falklands to the Argies.

Just to put it in perspective over the Falklands which some see as contentious, does anyone think Spain would give up the Canaries or Portugal give up Madeira?

Your wasting your time eagleman. The left are all for inclusivity and diversity just as long as it doesn't include patriotism.

Some on here have complained that this is a trivial issue and for them it maybe but for many people it isn't so why no respect for our feelings?

Kudos for your service to our great country.
