The UK is adrift in chaos and panic politically with comparisons to Suez and the end of empire being made.

The post-brexit delusion of being a totally sovereign nation that can ignore international realities has led to this, no-one is an island anymore, especially the UK how did it come to think so?

The United States and Europe media are withering, their governments look on with strained incredulity at our self-defeating actions.

What credibility is left.

Sorry Steeleye I like your posts although mostly I don't agree with them however this does not make any sense.

We are in a mess because Boris was sacked by his own MPs due to Partygate and then the MPs and the membership bungled the next PM.

All of this was self inflicted by the Tories I don't see Brexit has a role in this.

I have to disagree; I think Brexit played a big role.

The whole Truss philosophy was based on taking advantage of so called Brexit opportunities by de-regulating and creating a low tax environment. That type of philosophy in many ways summarizes the Singapore on Thames that many of the Tory right dream of and also the members.

Of course, reality hit home with the market reaction to borrowing billions to do that; equally, that reaction was probably to some extent a reaction to Britain being "on its own" and now seen as a risky proposition.

Another aspect that arose was, of course, immigration; Truss wanted to loosen the barriers so that there was labour available to drive growth; that however, was completely unacceptable to the Brexiteers including Braverman.

For me, Brexit is at the heart of much of the political turmoil of recent times especially as the costs - in terms of impact on GDP for example - become clearer by the day.

Six years on from the Brexit referendum, continental observers have become used to Westminster meltdowns – but many see in the latest cataclysm the inevitable finale of a project that was always divorced from reality.

The Truss failed economic policy is classic brexit.

Tory millionaire backer says UK economy is ‘frankly doomed’ without Brexit renegotiation.

Guy Hands says Conservatives are putting country ‘on a path to be sick man of Europe’.

We are so doomed we will need a bailout from the IMF.

To be fair to Truss she did try to enforce the brexit dream, but it looked a disaster from the first minute, and we will pay down the years for just a few days madness.

Everyone has views on Brexit but at the end of the day there was a democratic vote and we are out.
The story ends there

Ah yes, Guy Hands, financier, who is an arch-remainer . Wouldn’t say anything else, would he?
Perhaps he should look at inflation rates across Europe

Obviously leaving the EU has made us poorer and impacted growth, it cannot logically be any other way.

Well we had 90% but how much of germanys economy have we got now as they are looking more fecked than us. I reckon our 70% could be better than their 90% atm.
