The hysteria on this thread is just ridiculous. We have a workmanlike squad who play workmanlike football. We have been doing it for a few seasons now. The squad needs overhauling and Parish etc know that. To do this over the next 3/4 transfer windows and remain in the Premiership will take some doing. We have made some small steps this season-Eze / Mitchell. We will probably take some larger steps in the summer, but it won’t happen overnight. We need to maintain some stability whilst this process is completed. Most on here would change the whole squad and the management team tomorrow. Well that would be a recipe for disaster.

Totally agree. We’re not going to have the money to rebuild the squad so relegation looks very likely to me. I’m even starting to think that Roy might actually still be with us next season as I can’t see any manager fancying it, I know I wouldn’t. It seems an impossible task. You do realise, we are above Southampton, who were in the top 4 before Xmas, but self imploded. Without Ings they are very ordinary. Edited by Painter (11 May 2021 10.42pm)

Relatively early subs this week and ALL attacking players BUT where were they when they got on and what did they do? Sweet nothing. It's sad to have to say that our performance went even further south after Benteke came off. Zaha continued his recent underwhelming performances and Eze was generally well marshalled by the opposition. We couldn't cope with their aggressive pressing game resulting in our players not wanting to receive the ball and hence, passes went astray regularly. If the bulk of this squad is retained, we will not survive in the PL next season.

Also on another note, Wilf Zaha...absolutely ineffective all game again. Total tosh. And just got a yellow card for lashing out, because someone dared defend strongly against him. Get rid. Agree on this one Sprite and his petulance will cost him a move to one of the big clubs as is his wish. In my opinion he will stay with us and hopefully a new manager will sort him out. Still has a lot to offer but lost the plot currently.

Why do people go into compete meltdown and crisis after a loss. The amount of people talking about relegation next season!!!??? Since Roy has been in charge we haven’t had a relegation battle - it’s the same old tired rhetoric. We are not getting relegated with Roy in charge, the style of football is one thing but relegation - NAH! If he had the same players next season he wouldn’t get relegated. A good manager is a good manager for a reason.

Thought we played ok and, like most Premier League games, it hinged on a couple of key moments. I doubt Dann would have started instead of Cahill if we still needed the points and the introduction of Mateta and Bats worked in their favour and not ours

Very disappointing. We can only play well in short bursts and towards the end our fitness was really flagging. Time for a major overhaul Mr Parish or lets kiss the prem goodbye.

Really Roy...... from BBC ""Benteke played well again tonight, he was unlucky not to get a second goal. He must be pleased with his night's work. We aren't satisfied with the performance but we can't be accused of not giving it our best shot. "Football is a constant succession of mountains to climb, we won't let the club or fans down, we'll try our best. We want to win the last three games and we'll have to play at least as well as we did on Saturday." Are we CP fans that blind plus Villa are not Sheff Utd!!!!

We lost that game because we were bullied in midfield. We needed a hard man in there to compete. The ref let them away with it and gave them license to get stuck in. Ward-Prowse is a niggly little sh*t who kicks and pushes and winds players up. He gets away with it because the big boys in the team protect him when players react like Kouyate did. He needed put in his place first 5 minutes. Failing that I think Kouyate should have flattened him in the last five minutes. It would have been worth a red card. So Clinton knows Roy is leaving and we’re bringing in kids. I guess that means Frankie boy is the next manager.
