Not sure where we are heading on shirts. Say 25,000 shirts/year x £30 profit. That’s total Palace shirts. That’s less than £1m a season.

We will never make much unless in shops and worldwide. Neither of which will likely happen unless we consistently win things, or become somehow fashionable.

What, are we not fashionable

I'd much rather him go to Athletico, or anywhere outside of the EPL.

I really don't want to see him playing against us.

Time to get off the fence,Wilf,so you can let the Club forward plan, with or without you.Being unable to make a definite decision after many years would appear to be quite ridiculous.
Seems to me a move to Athletico would meet your own personal requirements!!

I'm totally cool man. But not sure about everyone else. I bring my scarf and clapper with a bobble hat. I like wearing a full kit around the place too - at age fifty it looks just right.

I have doubts there is 50% profit for shirt sales for the club. 25,000 would only pay Zaha’s current 2 weeks wage i believe.

My point is that 150K pw is not really an increase in real terms on his old deal factoring in inflation. The politics of that and whether he is worth it are other issues. The idea that wealthier individuals don't consider inflation seems very naïve. Wilf has a property portfolio, his own team (who will likely all have asked for higher wages in recent years) and other investments. People who work their way up from nothing are often acutely aware of every penny even when they're sitting on a mountain of cash.

In terms of inflation. that’s a reasonable argument, but depreciation also has to be taken into account, Wilf is an athlete and his performance statistics have most likely already gone down a bit, Mother Nature says his performance states will diminish.
It’s only a personal view but there is every chance if the club stretch Wilfs income to far beyond the rest of the team, they will be making a big problem in that dressing room.
For me Wilf is still an exceptionally useful player, he looked to be getting right back in the groove in the forty odd minutes before his ham string played up, so keep him if possible but not at all costs regardless of inflation

That's the big question, is he as important as he was. If Wilf believes he is he'll want more money. He did score 14 last season and were it not for injuries probably would have hit double figures again this season. It's also worth noting that in 2022 only Kane, Haaland, Toney and Son scored more goals than Wilf in the PL [Link]

I struggle to see a situation where he accepts the same terms, but we're not privy to what else is on offer. As others have said, if he goes I really hope it's not to another PL team.

*Wilf enters stage left*

"Ah, Wilf, yes, please take a seat. It has been widely reported that you stated a desire to play in the Champions League, perhaps you felt that Crystal Palace FC were not in the position to help you realise your dream date. I can say with total conviction that the club has not had any contact from any club that may fulfil the criteria you are looking for, not even Newcastle United! Given that you are a free agent and can do whatever you like, how do you feel about the situation now?"

"I was wrong Steve, I was wrong! It's all that agent's fault! I love the club, I love the fans, I want to stay Steve, I want to stay!"

"Wilf, I believe you do, and I like you as well, you're my favourite, so here's what I and the other shareholders can offer you: a one year extension in line with the club's policy of contract extensions for over 30s, and a basic salary of £60k per week, in line with the other players around your position. You're not getting any younger Wilf, and I note that the injuries are starting to accumulate. Have break and think it over, I think it's a fantastic offer. My door is always open Wilf, hope to hear from you shortly."

*exit Wilf, stage left*

Guehi, Andersen, Olise, Eze and Doucoure, are our best 5 players without doubt, i cant believe the improvement in Doucoure since Hodgson arrived, he always seemed (to me) off the pace before and one tackle away from a booking.

Doucoure has joint second most interceptions this last season. How can he seem to be off the pace???

Alongside this he won player of the year!

Weird take on Doucoure. He was off the pace the first few games with cramp, adjusting to the league. Not before Roy arrived.
