Surely it would be a deterrent rather than our overly sympathetic legal system.

Cheaper too

Is that the best you can do? Something 4 years ago?

Even the BBC makes mistakes but the primary point remains true. They don't publish hearsay. They check things themselves first, so if they publish it you can be sure it has been verified by them. That sometimes they later discover they were misled is unfortunate but doesn't undermine the integrity of their approach.

Only those with strong right, or left, leanings see political bias in the BBC. Those of us in the centre see balance.

only a crackpot could perceive the BBC as unbiased and impartial. Either that or somebody on some strong drugs.

Wisbech, mostly i don't even read your ramblings on here. I just drift past them to find the opinions of people i want to read. I regret reading your latest offering.

i wish that HOL had an ignore-function.

You are simply wrong and living in an echo chamber. As you confirm when you say you "find the opinions of people I want to read"! The want says it all.

The BBC is the most trusted broadcaster in the world. So there must be an awful lot of "crackpots".

I have encountered many who don't like its political output, but they are always people with strong political views themselves. Those on the left think the BBC is biased against them, just as much as those on the right think the opposite. You won't realise that because you live in a right-wing echo chamber.

You want to ignore me? Fine, do so. Just don't think your own views are normal and unbiased when you criticise either me or the BBC. You are not.

When you post something factually incorrect ( again ) only one example required, it's a yes or no thing.

But, it's ok to be wrong now and again and again etc

Your first para is contradictory waffle supporting BBC bias IMO

Changing from fact to opinion your last para IMO is risible and deluded, but all opinions welcome etc

Responsibility Deficit Disorder is a medical condition. Symptoms include inability to be corrected when wrong, false sense of superiority, desire to share personal info no else cares about, general hubris. It's a medical issue rather than pure arrogance.

I asked ChatGTP their opinion about this. This is their reply. Not my opinion. So perhaps you would like to argue with it:-

"The BBC has rigorous processes in place to verify content before publication. As a reputable news organization, the BBC is committed to upholding journalistic standards and maintaining accuracy and credibility in its reporting. Here are some key aspects of the BBC's content verification process:

Editorial Guidelines: The BBC has a comprehensive set of Editorial Guidelines that all its journalists and content producers must follow. These guidelines provide clear instructions on the principles of accuracy, fairness, impartiality, and accountability in reporting. They outline the processes and standards for verifying information before it is published or broadcast.

Fact-Checking and Verification: BBC journalists are responsible for fact-checking and verifying the accuracy of the information they report. This involves cross-referencing multiple sources, confirming facts with reliable sources, and seeking corroboration to ensure the information is accurate and reliable.

Source Evaluation: The BBC is careful in evaluating the credibility and reliability of sources before using their information. Journalists are encouraged to use authoritative and independent sources, and they consider the reputation, expertise, and potential biases of sources when determining their reliability.

Independent Editorial Oversight: The BBC has an independent body called the BBC Editorial Guidelines to ensure the organization's adherence to its editorial standards. This body, composed of experienced professionals, monitors and reviews BBC's content to ensure compliance with the guidelines and address any concerns or complaints from the audience.

Training and Professional Development: The BBC invests in training and professional development programs for its journalists and staff to enhance their skills in content verification and fact-checking. This includes providing guidance on identifying and avoiding misinformation, using credible sources, and maintaining high standards of accuracy in reporting.

While the BBC strives for accuracy, it is important to note that errors can still occur, as with any news organization. When mistakes happen, the BBC is committed to promptly correcting them and providing transparent explanations to maintain trust with its audience."
