To be honest Penge I don't think I have changed at all. I am totally outraged. I always have been.

Go back and read the thread about the Iraq War, just before we invaded. Go see how passionate I was about how this was the wrong war on the wrong people, about the lack of WMD evidence, about the inevitability of the war getting worse and not better... and look at the response I got from all and sundry. Not argument, note -- abuse.

I don't have a problem with that, I just give the abuse back and keep arguing. At least it shows my opinions have some grounding in fact rather than repeating "have you seen the real world you leftie" and suchlike - an especially laughable comment when it comes from someone who has lived their life in a tiny corner of a tiny country. However the total lack of action taken at the time does show that such personal abuse is regularly accepted on this board, or at least it is when it's going in the right direction.

I am STILL livid about the war, if not more so.

But what has really got to me is the deliberately selective attitude to my posts when it comes to responding, deleting, or whatever else has been done with them. I am not expecting any special treatment as an ex user and ex moderator, I'd like the same respect that each and every one of you would expect. Anyone else with an offensive name would be renamed and have their posts re-posted. Normally I'd expect someone posting anti-Semitic remarks to be at least told off, as well as having their post blanked for the offending part. Instead of this I (and I alone) have been f*cked off, and I believe it reflects badly on HOL - more so than it reflects badly on me.

Your failure to properly explain your motives has cast doubt and suspicion on whether what you have said so far is true, and certainly makes me wonder what other posts will be considered unsuitable in future.

I'd love to come on here and have a huuuuge rant about the evil little scumbags in the Saudi government for example, as well as Bush. I'd like to denounce Ayman Al Zawahiri as well as Ariel Sharon. But this is not a place for free expression or debate. That much is evident.

I am quite happy to move the thread back once Guntri changes your name on that thread and the offensive remarks have been deleted. I originally moved the thread across to General Talk when I was going to delete it as it was in the wrong forum to keep the debate going. Your two posts were deleted in Gold Talk because it was the only way to remove the Retardialator name from the board. You've since more than made up with your points on this thread and are welcome to post again on the Gold Talk threads. Nothing or nobody is stopping you.

There's no issue of censorship on here, so stop moaning! There has been no problem with you posting since Monday and there was no censorship in any your 6,000-odd posts since you registered in 2001. I didn't PM you straight away to tell you why the Retardialator name was banned but you were PM-ed by two moderators instead, who were doing their job.

I can't remember us re-naming a user in the same situation before. Anyhow, it's not something I can do as Guntri is the only one who knows how. If he doesn't get my message or hasn't got the time to talk about what happened then it has to wait. It was something I wanted to talk to the other moderators about first.

We have a Report to Moderator link next to every post. We get people alert us to offensive posts all the time. Nobody was offended by the "anti-Semitic" remark. I disagree it reflects badly on the HOL. If we get a complaint via email or the report to moderator link, we discuss what to do (like we did in your case because there are often very grey areas) then we deal with it.

Why are you trawling through old threads to find offensive posts to question why no action was taken? That I believe is you trying to create trouble on here and trying to undermine myself and the other moderators.

I explained my actions and you won't take anything at all from what I said. A decision was made at the time. Whether it was the right or wrong one, then it's too late now. I believe it was right. I don't really want to carry the argument on. So please lighten up and go and have some sex or something!
