Just look at the peaceful left. I'm sure they'll be right along to the Lenin statue in Seattle to give it the same treatment, right? Martin Luther King had some extremely dubious views about homosexuality that would make the right-on brigade cringe on here. I don't give a 5hit about historical relativism now, because those calling for "pull down the statues" don't either. So. We taking down all the MLK statues as well? Hmm? This is the thin edge of the wedge. The shutting down of speech, the burning buildings, the utter intolerance towards other views (on both sides of the divide). Happy birthday Soros, you got your wish. Yeah look at them and their criminal damage so on a par with driving a car into a crowd of protesters and other acts of terrorism coomitted by neonazis and white 'nationalists'. I don't agree with them but stop trying to equate the two. They aren't the same thing.

Progressivism starts with the low hanging fruit, but given successes they will no doubt move onto Washington and Jefferson.

I don't doubt some will, but if they achieve that democratically, though due process, within the law, then I don't think its really a problem. Washington has a statue because he's a founding father and the first president of the US. Jefferson for writing the US constitution. Difference is the kind of people who turn up to protest for Washington and Jefferson won't be neo-nazis and 'white nationalists'. And almost certainly, if they tried to do that for Washington and Jefferson, they federal government would step in (or the supreme court).
