Yep, if I'm Israel I know that I need the Iranian regime to change to a far less confrontational one.....If I'm Saudi I know that I need the Iranian regime to change to be the main hegemon in the region. Yep, if I'm Israel I know that I need the Iranian regime to change to a far less confrontational one.....If I'm Saudi I know that I need the Iranian regime to change to be the main hegemon in the region.

That said, this isn't really the way to go about it.....unless you are planning to severely damage the Iranian military and then get your internal insurgents to take over.

For that you'd need at least a main general in your pocket.

I don't see it.....but if that was going to happen it would happen soon.

I think the real point has been overlooked here and that the way the US has presented it has caused that quite deliberately.

Soleimani's assassination would not stop any kind of planned attack! He might have been the current and revered commander but they already have a new one. Who knows, he might be even more aggressive and with the people now demanding blood more likely to carry it out.

And it was an assassination. I heard a US spokesperson claim that the UN has classified him as a terrorist and therefore a legitimate target but that's untrue. He, and his organisation, were subject to sanctions and scrutiny but only the US and the EU had classified him as a terrorist.

For the avoidance of doubt any comments in response to a previous post are directed to its ideas and not at any, or all, posters personally.

I really couldn't give a monkey's about what the UN thinks about anything at all.

The Israeli and Saudi points are interesting. Military strikes will have to come from US forces though, I would have thought. Iran has a decent air defence system.

If the US and Israelis wanted to do it, they would do it. If the air defence system couldn't be knocked out it could be overwhelmed. If the US and Israelis wanted to do it, they would do it. If the air defence system couldn't be knocked out it could be overwhelmed.

Just a matter of will....but that will isn't really there....unless you're this Salami guy.

Back to fermenting insurgency me thinks.
