I'm going to bookend my comment from the start of this episode, and then (I hope) say no more on the matter.

I do love that DC has been living rent-free in the heads of the many remainiac anti-Brexit mouth-frothers, both on here and on the leftwaffe social media generally.

"Oh no, it's nothing to do with Brexit! Steve Baker LOLZ". I mean Baker absolutely loathes DC, as would be evident if you've read either of Shipman's two books. In fact, the ERG in general detest DC - what was it he referred to them as? Something witty conflating Brexit with Fossils or Dinosaurs. That's exactly why Peter Bone et al. were not involved in the campaign, and instead formed "Grassroots Out". There's a lot of (as ever) tribal politics at play here - DC does a good job of generally being hated, but getting the job done. He's not in it to make friends, unlike Boris (who genuinely has problems with people hating him).

DC has exposed the rabid pack of wolves that we call the media, without really trying, and sent the twittersphere into paroxysms of "Brexit MaN bAd!" rage. Again, without really trying. All that remains now (and it will happen IMO), is for the police to confirm he acted within the law, and proportionately. Had I had the same resources available to me, including two young (lowest risk-category) nieces on-hand to take on care of my child had we both been hospitalised (given DC has pre-existing conditions, a plausible risk), I would also have taken that choice. This guy war-games for a living. It's literally his bread and water. Evaluate scenarios, determine best outcome, weigh up compromises, risks. I doubt he's ever done anything half-cock. If his critical reasoning led him to this outcome as being optimal in terms of infection risk etc, then so be it. Criticise him for being a parent looking out for his family. If he was flagrantly breaking the rules, he would have gone to his Uncle's funeral. He didn't.

Yeah, yeah, we get it. You hate him. He's literally Hitler. A Svengali (cringe). The devil incarnate. The more he's harrassed and persecuted, the more he comes out on top. You won't see it in overtly public acts of revenge like denying Bercow a peerage (yum).... “I don't think I am arrogant. I don't know very much about very much. Mr Grieve … we'll see what he's right about.” Where is Grieve now? Nowhere. He's a nobody with a tinge of betrayal and treachery lingering around him. You'll see the BBC under his microscope soon. Perhaps some tightening on media conduct and clarity on "public interest".

DC's not a "tory spin doctor" - he couldn't give a stuff about image, public impressions, or superficial appearances. He wants to get s*** done. If he ruffles feathers along the way, he'll give zero f***s (and thank god for that). He's fully intending to rip up the deep state and BBC supporting act. I can't wait.

Rent. Free.

Classic Dom.

Nice one. Me thinks regret will be had by many going forwards. Not boris though. People think hes stupid. You dont speak 5 languages and become PM if your stupid. The future is looking interesting.

So what you beleive then is:
People will break the lockdown because Cummins did iyo. If he was sacked initially people will say well done we wont break the lockdown now because we havent got an excuse. Really.....

I am not saying anything.

The science is saying it and the government's position is that they follow the science.

If they don't follow the science then there will be consequences. For all of us, but ultimately for Johnson and the government.

You said a catastrophe because of what DC did. Make your mind up.

Health advice is freely given. Distancing can keep you alive and well. This will not change your behaviour and mine either. We actually agree funnily on the lockdown measures. Why on earth do people see a possible faux par as a reason to put themselves in a dangerous situation? Surely it must be more grown up to act on your own instincts than to be lead by others. Are people really lemmings in a human skin.

Are you a SAGE behavioural scientist advising the government?

Thought not.

Maybe those that are know more than we do about the probable reaction and its cost.

Sweden is following “The Science” as well.

The left only 'follow the science' that they want to follow.

So now its political then. At the start it was because he maybe broke the law.
Cyndi Lauper wrote a song for you.

It's political for the politicians.

If it causes a spike in the death rate, as has been suggested, then it isn't for the rest of us.

It's personal.

Cummings is merely the precursor.

The real event is Johnson failing to act.

That's what is causing the catastrophe now swirling around the whole crisis.

It was is so unbelievably stupid and so totally avoidable.

So what? That's another irrelevance.

That they reach different conclusions in their own particular circumstances just means that their circumstances and ours are not identical.

I did laugh at that. The LBC bloke after him was again more interested in Cummings than Coronavirus so I switched off.

I think that these briefings will lose all of their audience if all the journalists want to talk about is Cummings
