Not sure what he's done wrong other than not being a billionaire willing to spunk a load of money into a football club. Probably getting into bed with the Americans, in an attempt to bring in fresh cash, is probably his biggest mistake. However, as someone else has already posted, at least he didn't sell to someone only to saddle the club with massive debts. Parish is a breath of fresh air compared to Jordan, Goldberg, Noades and Ray Bloye who were all disasters overall (although Noades did have some success). Arthur Wait was before my time so can't comment on him. Be careful what you wish for.
It's 106 miles to Chicago, we got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark... and we're wearing sunglasses. |

He is a relatively rich football supporter, however the world has moved on and to compete in the top league you don’t just need a few bob in the bank. This was the reason the yanks were bought in in the first place, to help with funding, but it looks like they are now disinterested, so we are left with someone who wants the best for his club but can’t afford it. It’s not his fault, but if we want to compete in this league he either has to drop down to a minority holding or go altogether. It has nothing whatsoever to do with being careful what you wish for, it’s understanding that without additional funds on top of media revenues you are on a hiding to nothing in this league.

To anyone who thinks SP is doing a bad job - two words Peter Risdale. That’s what trying to live beyond your means does. Or in Palace terms. He picked up a team worth sod all and helped get them promoted. If we hadn’t his investment would still be worth sod all. He took a risk and earned from it. Good luck to him. I’d rather his brand of ownership than Jordan or Goldberg.

Let us not forget there were 3 other gentlemen who invested alongside Steve, Messrs Hosking,Browett and Long and the "4 Amigos" saved the club from oblivion.

SP IMO has done a fantastic job from scratch, still building slowly but again IMO surely. New academy which costs millions and plans to re-develop the ground. We need patience as he is learning all the time as well. Can't say I am impressed with the recruitment side but on the whole we are going in the right direction.

Some might advance the argument that finishing 11th,followed by 12th and then 14th last season is not going in the "Right direction" !!

I don't disagree Wilo but I am saying that as a club structure we are going the right way. There are many things I would like to see change but I don't own it!!

I said at the time (and was roundly derided for it) that if it wasn't for the huge stroke of luck having a youngster called Wilfried Zaha in the junior ranks we may never have got promoted

But he outlaid on Bolasie and also went and got Holloway - which helped get us out of the division. He still took the risk buying the club. None of them had to.

The main point is whether or not he has the wherewithal to keep us there or even to push us onwards and upwards. If Parish and his American buddies can't / won't fund a squad rejuvenation this summer then I would like to see them all sell out to someone who will

Jackson.. Wan Bissaka.... Sansom.. Nicholas.. Cannon.. Guehi.... Zaha... Thomas.. Byrne... Holton.. Rogers.. that should do it.. |

And a bit of luck I'll take happily!!
