Not a Lampard fan personally but if he's still interested I can see it being him as he's a name / face saver and young manager with something to prove.

I agree, I think it’s an appointment Parish will see as him not losing face out of the situation. He wouldn’t have been top of my list.. but at this juncture I’ll take it. Lampard does have his positives. It’s risky but I’ll be fully behind him. If it is Lampard I reckon it will be a 3 year deal.

Has no PL experience and has no experience of managing top levels players or being in that environment. Cooper has merits too, particularly with youth but Cooper is uninspiring to many.

I do think in the interests of this thread it would be a good ending if Lampard got it after all -- on a three-year deal of course. The final post should be from dazza and it should just read Frank Lampard and then the thread is locked leaving the other near 300 pages to be brushed into the annals of holmesdale.net history.

Each to their own eh,Not even saying we'll get Frank although I know Cooper not popular with the majority it seems. I didn't necessarily want FL as 1st choice but imho he'll attract better players into the club & lets face it we're getting deseperate,I'd be just as happy for the Doug and Shaun Derry to take the reins on a temp basis than risk Cooper. Given a choice between Cooper and Lampard I would choose Cooper. Reason being that he has worked his way up from youth football to senior and in my view got a better job each time and if he got the Palace job then I think that he would be the right man at this time.

There are many, many good managers in world football who would be suitable for this job. But our attempts to lure someone in who can progress the football, integrate the academy whilst also getting the results required AND having PL experience is a classic case of cake and eat it. These managers don’t exist for a club like Palace. We either go down the PL-results based route (Dyche) or we bring in the most suitable candidate for the job. Favre was out of work since December - his agent needn’t of had to approach us. We could’ve gone through the process with him months ago. As for Lampard vs Cooper. They’ve both managed in the Championship and Cooper has done far better. Lampard spent big at Derby and brought in numerous PL standard players on loan and equalled what Gary Rowett did before him. Cooper has done a very good job at Swansea. If Cooper is going to Fulham, perhaps just put Dougie in charge on an interim basis whilst Parish pulls his finger out rather than giving it to a guy who had a Champions League winning squad with a market value in the hundreds of millions in 9th. That’s assuming an ex-world class midfielder would even want to join a club that has publicly put him about 4th in line for the job anyway. Dougie says he wants redemption. Here’s his chance.
