In Conservative incompetence news, this week’s is Tory MP declared bankrupt (despite owning a house worth three times what he owes and having 5 years to sort this out ) but won’t stand down.

It used to be that if an MP was bankrupt he had to resign, is that not still the case?

If he really owns the house why was this not seized? I am not expecting you to have the answers I just haven't seen this story, sounds odd like the people who pay £250 a month to live in Evelyn Waugh's mansion no one seems to have the full story.

No one makes you watch Farage or Trump do they. Paradoxically, in the case of Farage, your desire to see the Tories split would mean that you'd have to wish him well in his media efforts to gain support.

Your solution is in your own hands, just don't watch them.

.

Of course I don’t have to. I followed Trump so I could stay abreast of his moods and lies. Knowing what any POTUS is up to is of interest to me. I don’t watch Farage routinely but in idle moments I dip in when controversy is in the air, just to be aware of what is coming down the line.

If the Tories do split and Reform gains as a consequence it will be interesting to see if the regulator permits him to carry on as he is now.

A Member of Parliament going into bankruptcy does not automatically trigger a by-election, unless a bankruptcy restrictions order (BRO) is enforced.

The trustee now takes charge of all assets until the bankruptcy is discharged

The world of politics is enticingly fascinating even though it often represents some of society's worse people and effects.....the who's who we obviously wouldn't agree on.

However, I don't think I could ever be quite as interested in it as you are.

This will please you WE.

Change is coming....The nicely kept safe and conservative Cornwall of which you love...Well, I guess it's time to evolve.

In twenty years it'll look nothing like it does now.....Same as what happened to London. I'd consider the affect on house prices when your kids come to flog your properties.....presuming all that happens.

I say careful what you wish for....essentially, the idealism which you wish for others eventually turns into the practical affects when you find it coming to your own doorstep.

Outward population pressure results in even house price segregation being over come. All those high ideal middle class liberals are going to find themselves eventually living the life I had to as a teenager.

When you feel a far greater need to look over your shoulder at the ATM, perhaps you'll have pause to reflect.

Everywhere will welcome those lovely migrants with open arms. Where doesn't want fifty Albanian males who were fleeing absolutely nothing, except drugs debts or criminal records? Every small village should get some.

They love equality and in a sense, equality is going to be coming their way.

Watch them suddenly find issues, no doubt there will be an increase in unwell relatives that some will suddenly need to move closer to.

Seems like a very sensible and practical idea to me, although ensuring sufficient accommodation is available could be a challenge.

Sorry to disappoint you though. I doubt whether Cornwall will feature too heavily on the list, as we already have a population inflow. It's not mentioned in the article. It seems more likely to me that either extremely rural, isolated, or just plain unattractive areas, will be the primary recipients. Somewhere like the Fens, maybe?

I have had plenty of experience of looking over my shoulder when using an ATM. Some I have used have an armed guard standing watch and each ATM in a separate, enclosed booth in which only one person at a time is allowed. Add to that devices which can be inserted into the money dispenser which traps the cash, and while you go to complain, is stolen. You haven't really lived! You just think you have.

Blimey! You're right about that, never seen that one.

Still, I don't think Cornwall gets to escape anymore than anywhere else....you certainly have the hotels.

Some of which are currently in use to accommodate migrants. This scheme though is not about temporary accommodation but more permanent settlements.

Albanians aren’t migrants they are illegal immigrants. Unfortunately the Government hasn’t quite got around to dealing with them.

I worked for Immigration for over 30 years NO Government, whatever persuasion has dealt with illegal immigration. Indeed Blair positively encouraged more immigration so we had a more diverse population. This is fact, as I worked as a Visa Officer at the time

When the Government have tried to deal with them they are stopped at every turn by the HRA ( introduced by Blair I believe) and those on the left who do not believe in having any form of border control.
Nice to see you admit that many of the Channel crossers are illegal migrants, not all on here agree
