PV may be the manager but as soon as a better opportunity comes by he'll be off....Derry's paid his dues at the club through some of its hardest times.

Team Derry on this one......The club owned him more sensitivity and respect on his departure than this.

If Viera didn't agree with Derry's approach to the players, then he had to go. PV is a black manager handling largely black players. He should be able to manage players the way he wants

I agree PV will be gone in a year or two - people like Derry and McCarthy are the club.
In Ireland we call the short termers/newcomers blow-ins.

What's that supposed to mean? White people can't comment? Most of us better stop posting. I'll post in a form of reggae or rap from now on.
Different approaches can be helpful. Sometimes the velvet glove - sometimes the fist.

There's one boss and if Derry overstepped the mark having been told not to then that's on him. It would be damaging to the squad and a sign of weakness if Vieira didn't stamp down on this as you could end up with players also challenging his authority. If Everton was a one off then I'd support Derry, but if he didn't heed warnings (as has been suggested) then Big Pat made the right decision. Despite a bit more clarity we're still probably not getting the full story anyway. One thing I would say is that for all his coolness you wouldn't f*ck with Vieira as he's absolutely massive. I remember Keane admitting that if the fight was outside the stadium Vieira would demolish him.

What'll be interesting now is who Vieira brings in as his replacement, whether it's another Palace man, a promotion from within or someone else.

What's the colour of the manager or player's skin got to do with anything!
If someone said that about a white manager and mainly white players there would rightly be uproar!
If PV did have a problem with Derry's coaching style than that's fine and it's his perogative to do something about it but race or colour shouldn't enter into the equation.

I'm not sure what being black has to do with it.

I'm not saying that the manager doesn't get to make the decisions....it's their neck on the line and Derry wasn't his man.

No, my point was on how the club handled the departure....or rather seemingly just ignored it when Derry is an important figure....and with respect much more important than some Arsenal fly by nighter.

My understanding is that a replacement is not planned.

Maybe he said "you havent got a F*****g Clue" and was sacked for his honesty.

Yep, I wonder how long McCarthy has.

And pointed out that Schlupp isn't a CM player, Olise is a winger, Eze is a No10, and the two strikers you bought are Pants, and 4-3-3 dosent work, it only took you about 15 games to work that out.
