With respect, what absolute phooey.
I was honoured and gratified to be in receipt of such generous and heartfelt comments following my 'Sabbatical' and responded to the kindness out of respect.

Conscious that the spotlight was being shone on me, I then respectfully suggested that the debate should return to the subject matter and NOT turn into a dastardly 'Willo thread'.

These were not the comments of an "Attention seeker" in any shape or form and those who truly know me,as opposed to those who hurl barbs from the safety of a keyboard, will attest to the fact that I am not a gentleman of ludicrous grandiosity ever willing to be at the forefront of the debate for self-promotion.

I have nothing more to add on this matter, may the debate PLEASE concentrate on 'Latest News'.Thank you.

Given the thread is entitled 'latest news' I wouldn't hold your breath. We could all indulge in the make believe world of another if we want however...

This is an important window for the club .
It’s been as chaotic window as I can recall with merely good or even inexperienced and unproven players requiring transfer fees in excess of £50 million.
The agents (and Brighton) are having an absolute field day.
Over the last few days the papers would have you believe -

Olise to Chelsea or Manchester City
Anderson to Newcastle
Guehi to Manchester United or Arsenal
Eze to Tottenham
Doucoure to Liverpool

I hope none of the above materialises and in recent years we haven’t been a selling club, only really losing Bolassie and AWB and even then on our terms and for good fees.

I think we have a different model to Brighton who practically invite bids for their players and welcome interest, confident that they can replace those who leave with even better.
In contrast I think we are trying to build a team and want the players to grow together to emerge as a team capable of pushing into the top 10.
If we lose two or more of the aforementioned current players this window it could mark us down as another selling club like a Southampton who have all but given up hope of progression.
Some will disagree and think Freedman will pick up some more gems to instantly replace those who may leave , but it’s not that easy with Brighton being the exception to the rule.

BREAKING NEWS:

Knees Up Mother Brown Forum has put an official bid in for HOL's very own 'Dazza'. It is believed to be a 5 year deal & he passed the medical & was a 'done deal' 2 weeks ago

Dazza is reportedly making a tearful farewell video which he hopes to share with his team mates in the not too distant future. HOL would like to state that they will miss this poster, but, it will free up hard drive space for the future.

These things are complicated. We're still looking at multiple targets. Loads of things can go wrong. Somebody's letter 'f' broke on their keyboard. Somebody else said that Gray was sh1t - so needed to be reported to a moderator - but they're on holiday in the Canaries. Someone's cat broke the WiFi Someone refused the drop and cough. Done deal doesn't always mean done deal. Keep the faith - more to come lads!! Five year exclusive posting deals don't just fly off the shelf at Asda!!

Just heard Simon Jordan bemoaning the signing of the Ecuadorian captain, Ivan Kaviedes.
He said Dowie 'slung him out of the door ' after 5 minutes as he was no good.
He contrasted this to Brighton who sold the Ecuadorian, Caceido, for £115 million.
I couldn't remember Kaviedes at all and, looking him up, he only made a few appearances for Palace.

Name rings a bell but as you say didn't make too many appearances. We have had a few foreign duffers. Seem to remember the Hungarian "Wayne Rooney", more like Mickey when he played.

I remember him. We had a few that year as BE mentioned:

Ivan Kaviedes
Sandor Torghelle
Vassilis Lakis (??) - Greek bloke who missed a sitter against Arsenal and at the time I held a special hatred in my heart for him, for that!

Let us not forget Gonzalo Sorondo.

Wife beating may be socially acceptable in Sheffield, but it is a different matter in Cheltenham

We had him too… but I thought he was excellent.

If Ventola stayed fit and played all season may have been a different story! That one goal against saints almost made him were it not for bad defending at the back post!
