There was heaps of compromise being suggested. Most were content to accept a "soft" Brexit in which close alignment was maintained. Many wanted the options to be put back to the people so they could express how they felt with the benefit of 3 year's worth of hindsight. Now it seems we are back into "no deal" territory and the the views of the moderates are being completely ignored again.

It wasn't "granted" by the government at all. They just proposed it. Parliament's involvement was indeed inescapable. You don't have to believe me. You just need to check the facts. Neither could they have accurately have "promised" to abide by the result. That they did so was misleading at best and fake at worse. It always depended on Parliament. Note the word "consultative" in the linked piece. So I regret to tell you that the "bollox" and the "shyte" are all yours.

Us plebs listen to the professional politicians like the priminister who tells the country it's a once in a life time dicision. If your context was that many who voted leave did so on the basis of a fundamental misunderstanding about how the EU functions then I did miss it. Having re-read it that's the only conclusion to be reached. I have never been accused of being a bigot before! That's a first. Makes me feel quite at home here.
