I honestly heard a panelist say that closing down borders 'sends the wrong message about immigration'. FFS.

In other developments expect measures:

Irony is that UK gov didn`t want to take back the control of the borders when needed now although they were campaigning few months ago.

The schools issue is a mixed one....it depends upon the strategy you're using....and at some stage they are going to do it anyway.

I've pulled my children out last week because I mainly work from home and grand-parents aren't an option.

Keeping schools open does of course use staff and their families as front line troops as it were....I'm sure when this is over there's going to be some arguing over that.

Yes Wayne Rooney has apparently written some garbage about footballers being used as Guinea pigs.

If Wayne Rooney couldn’t play football he’d be selling guinea pigs at Pets at Home. Utter bell end

It’s interesting seeing our responses to this.

Society has got so used to certainty. Years ago we could have been wiped out by any number of Diseases at any given time.

Quite humbling really to realise that we are not always in complete control of our own destinies.

Bringing out the best and worst in people unfortunately.

The most important thing is to keep food production and distribution going. The hygiene standards in U.K. and EU food production are very high so will cover workers’ hygiene and they will be thankful they’re on a payroll in a thriving industry so should be okay I hope.

The postponements and cancellations of procedures in hospitals and financial strains on affected industries and contracts are going to affect people badly.

Williamson announces the temporary suspension of routine Ofsted inspections.

You have to laugh really...the idea that, for a while, some schools were preparing for Ofsted during this.

You can see his point though. Although it's not very well expressed.

With every country having infections the only real benefit to be gained is to close the border to anyone from a country with a significantly higher level than your own. It's stopping social contact transmission that will really help, and that's an internal issue. It's much too late to stop it being brought in. It's here and was always going to be here. What we are now doing is managing the impact.

Suggesting that stopping immigration will help is nonsense, but closing borders isn't really doing that anyway as it's a temporary move in a crisis.

If closing the borders to all won't actually save any lives, and I cannot see how it will, then why do it? If people want to go on holiday, follow the regulations of the country they will be in, then surely keeping the tourist industry busy, the planes flying and people's mental well being maintained must be better? Perhaps we will see some relaxation in the coming months.

Am I missing something?
