Bad luck mate. Happening to loads of people, if it makes you feel any better.

I don't think you have to worry though

Few people at that age get it badly, especially if they are vaccinated. Good luck for Christmas, I guess you will be having a TV seasonal break.

Sorry mate tell him to isolate in his bedroom (most boys do that anyway) tell him you'll feed him, egg on toast, beans on toast etc whatever you can slip under the door.

I was in the Chemist yesterday woman was asking about kids her one year old grandson just tested positive, very little medication they will give them at that age unless it is serious.

Keep well people.

Thanks all, he’s been sneezing for a day or two but other than that I am extremely thankful to say that he seems fine. We have all been Lateral Flow testing each day, so that we could visit family after Boxing Day but that will now be put off until all this settles down.

Countless families all over the Country experiencing the same no doubt - yesterday, today…tomorrow.

Stay safe people and whatever your circumstances, I hope you manage to have a wonderful Christmas.

6 points against Spurs & Norwich would be just the tonic!

Thank you, yes he’s fully vaccinated with the one shot vaccine recommended for 12-15 year olds.

We were one of the extremely fortunate ones to get our hands on a PS5 for Christmas so that should keep him occupied (from the 25th onwards! )

Who do you think you are? You are certainly not my teacher. And as far as wasting time, it is clear you do a great deal of that whereas I don't waste yours.

Turning to the data, I have long understood that you don't like arguing based upon the objective facts. It therefore comes as no surprise to me that you appear incapable of interpreting them. In fact it explains a lot.

As it appears you did not learn statistics in your STEM studies let me help you, just this once.

The data are laid out by age group. So for the up to 18 year old group, during the relevant four week period there were 634 people with COVID going into Acute Emergency Care. That means A&E in hospitals followed by at least one night in hospital. Of those it wasn't possible to determine vaccination status for 21. Of the remaining 613, 19 were fully vaccinated and a further 37 partially vaccinated. That means they did not have two vaccinations more than 14 days before they presented at A&E. So overall 3% of this age group had been fully vaccinated.

By age group:

Under 18 3%
18 - 29 28%
30 - 39 31%
40 - 49 45%
50 - 59 54%
60 - 69 61%
70 - 79 70%
80 upwards 79%

The overall average is heavily affected by the propensity to need medical treatment for COVID being far greater for older people.

Let me now look at your demographic. In the East of England there is a population of 845,191 40 to 49 year olds. Of those 751,252 have had two vaccination doses which is 89%.

Across England 6,202,696 people in that age group have had two vaccinations out of a total population of 7,114,942, which is 87%.

Effectively doubling your chances of needing hospitalisation isn't smart, especially when so many medical staff in acute settings are currently off with COVID. What these data don't show is what happens next, the figures in ICUs are more dramatic in terms of high numbers of unvaccinated patients.

If you would like me to walk you through the above in more detail please feel free to PM me.

Talk about a pointless detour.....utter waste of time.

Telling me stuff I'd already said concerning risk and presenting vaccination statistics it as if you have something to say.

Ah, so why did you ask me to interpret a silly little table for you when you know it all then? I have noticed that you do know more than all the Government scientists in every country, good for you.

In reality you just couldn't get your head around the data could you. But well done on your extreme deflection. If you shout loud enough nobody questions you.

'Omicron up to 70% less likely to need hospital care'.

The next variant should be called 'bazonka' in my view.

Think of it as a blessing in disguise. Now he can stay in his bedroom without you having to tell him to come downstairs and be social. On top of that he won't miss any school and gets it over and done with. At least for a while.

Stay safe and have a good Christmas.
