BBC Breakfast is on in the background, they're doing a thing about quarantining coming from Greece & Portugal. Talking about the 4 home nations who have totally different rules, bear with me.

Wales - Welsh Flag
Scotland - Scottish Flag
England - English Flag(cross of St George)
Northern Ireland - ROI FLAG When did NI become part of Eire?

Talk about lazy, poor research #defundthebbc

I’m more surprised they found themselves able to show the English flag. Little more than a demonic far right symbol to them normally.

Yesterday the DG hinted that the BBC has over expanded in certain areas (true)and that it maybe necessary to make cutbacks and to focus more on public service broadcasting.

I hope he means this the BBC has spent the last 20-30 years chasing ratings and competing with ITV and now the streaming services. That is not the purpose of the corporation.

If the BBC spends money on programming that the commercial channels avoid e.g. arts, nature, education, serious investigative journalism etc. they will have a far better chance of placating the public.

If they do that and reign in the more blatant left wing bias then they may save their jobs.

It's going to be an uphill struggle for the new DG as I expect the staff and unions will fight him all the way still if they win that battle then I predict the public will demand an end to the licence fee.

Apparently turkeys do vote for Christmas.

Yep, the conservatives conserve nothing anymore.

There is no sensible right wing party there to chip away at their votes. Any party to the right has to damage Labour too or we could let the Marxist/minorities by accident.

There has to be a proper forth alternative that represents the future of 'indigenous' Britain.

Freedom of expression is one thing, freedom to organise politically is different.

I agree.

I know that on the dissident right a discussion as to whether we should change our approach to free speech is taking place. Up to now, we have spent lots of time shouting about the left's double standards and lies but it's pointless as they gate-keep us from the mainstream and lie about us....essentially they don't don't care what we say as we're the devil to them....They have proven what I've always said, that essentially it's about power and little else.

So I get the justification and agree to an extent with the arguments that on a turning of the tables we should 'do unto them as is done unto us'. But I'm in the camp that this should be focused upon the institutions....not expression. I don't want to be them....I'm sure that a pathway can be worked out.

However, to turn those tables we need a social conservative takeover in the actual conservative party and as you can see....that's been betrayed. If I'm honest I think it's lost here. Global interests rule the Conservative politicians more than their grass roots do.....As we go forward society will become more fragmented and less and less cohesive.

The British trust their leaders...it's their nature...In war time it was lions led by donkeys and for the modern generation it's plebs led by bigger plebs....and I say that as a proud anglo saxon.

If Trump loses or when the Republicans inevitably lose due to demographics I look to the right in America and their obsession with a protection of second amendment rights to create the fightback that will be required. It won't be pretty and there will be regrets.

Will it happen? We know that republicans themselves are ruled by global interests themselves....however the second amendment is so deeply ingrained into the right's culture that I see it as large enough to even overcome that.

There is...but it comes with problems.

Until those are sorted we remain a car without an engine.

Interesting article from John Humphreys I particularly liked his comment

"It is not the BBC’s job to transform society in ways that will meet the approval of certain pressure groups."

With so many other TV and online options, I think it's on borrowed time. It looks to be protected until 2027 but after that, unless it finds the sweet spot politically and content wise, I can't see there being public support for shelling out for a license.

It is all over for the BBC no matter what. Next election, it comes into play as a major manifesto issue. No questions about it. Labour will face a similar situation to Brexit. Its membership will not countenance defunding it, the vote it needs to win back in the North will happily ditch the licence fee tomorrow. I reckon it could cost Labour 10-20 seats it might otherwise have fancied winning. Enough to keep Johnson in power.

Extending its funding to 2027 was incompetent. Even if we forgo the political bias issue the reality is that many people are being taxed 150 odd quid for services they hardly or don't use.

The government could instead ensure a pathway for those people amongst who wish to use that money on other media content they value.

Instead of a situation where you pay the BBC their bounty or else you are threatened with criminality.
