With respect, typical Anti-Conservative hogwash.

I expected a better response from you, to be honest.

Evidence of corruption and the efforts to conceal it, together with the catalogue of lies Johnson’s come out with are a matter of record. Tell me I’m wrong.

The Tories are bent. Rotten to the core. I want horrible things to happen to them.

Even so, that was a big loss. And against what the polling and the bookies were saying. The Tories got outplayed. As I said, hubris impacts all of us. Key to it is to learn and move forward.

No point in blaming the Lib Dems. They are meant to be finished, washed up. They will try every trick in the book as they have nothing to lose. I am fully aware of how loathed they are by both Conservative and Labour activists given how they will lie and cheat on every level but you know what you up against.

Certainly Boris Johnson and the Conservative Party are not going to shrug this result off.
The result will be forensically examined for the reasons behind this unexpected defeat.

It doesn’t need Sherlock Holmes to work that out.

In response to further viriolic attacks against the Conservative Party, I re-iterate my words in a previous post :

"I have no desire to engage in debate which would only serve to provide vitriol with the 'Oxygen' of publicity"

Casting lines in the hope I bite will leave some very disappointed.

Because you’ve realised that you can’t defend them.

Sounds like massive complacency from the Tories. Concentrating so hard on their culture war to win over the ‘Red Wall’ they’re alienating a lot of their usual voting base, one that’s wise to their massive f*ck ups over the last couple of years.

Labour. 622 votes out of nearly 40,000.

Lib Dem managed to eat up the entire Labour vote which was 10,000 in the last election, and probably soaked up most of the more liberal remain element of the Tory vote.

622 though... they are lucky buckethead wasn't standing.

Looking likely that the Lib Dems ‘borrowed’ a few Labour voters. The real crunch for Labour is the upcoming Batley & Spen by-election. With Galloway standing, we could end up with another Hartlepool.

I read somewhere that over development of green space was one of the volatile local issues? It's a common theme where I live in Kent and I'd definitely vote for anyone who wants to stand up for the local community on it. Boris wants to do something for the "poor north so now's his chance to shift it all up there.

It's actually heartening to see the Lib dems making a bit of a come back after their misguided woman leader (name?) threw her party off the parapets.

I'm no fan of the fake conservatives.....more like the Blair party.

However, if anyone who normally voted Tory voted Lib Dem as a protest vote then I think when they see that incredibly woke mess in action I don't think they'll continue voting for them.....better off voting monster loony party.

As for the traditional Labour voter voting Lib Dem....I think they could soak up a percent of them however its affect will be limited with a staunch rejoining the EU message.

The opposition to the Tories are essentially activist parties and as such aren't a current threat in general elections.

England isn't the same country as it was in 2010 each tory win has brought them more seats by fiddling the boundaries.

The tories have recently gained another 20 seats and may have gained 100 in the 11 years.

By-elections are a bit of an irrelevance they hardly make any difference to the numbers.

An illustration of how skewed the system is. Based on the 2019 election.
