Penge, you are entitled to your opinion.

But let's draw the line at suggesting socialists are in power in California...

BIG taxes:yup,VAT is a whopping great 7.5% in CA.Real punitive socialist sales tax rate.

Those socialists in charge of California have propelled it to be the world's 6th largest economy, ahead of France. They do some weird stuff from time to time, but to accuse them of "failing" is baseless Trumpian rhetoric.

Oh, and spare me the "they've got x billion of debt" whining. Moody's gives the state a debt rating of Aa3, which compares favorably to Aa2 for the UK.

In your opinion.....which some of us regard as pretty dodge of course.

I don't trust the credit rating agencies in general....that's the truth.

California's (failing) economy was 2.46 trillion dollars in 2016, regardless of what you think about Moody's et al, and growing at over 4% annually.

Bloody commies.

I dont know what this thread has become, but i was looking at some earlier remarks, particularly a left vs. right debate about happiness in the 50s versus now. In terms of the United States, minorities and women have made strides toward social equality, even gaining advantages in some cases (affirmative action), while the ‘patriarchy’ is constantly being attacked and eroded. However, the simple, salient fact is that the quality of life for everyone, including blacks, hispanics, and whites of both sexes, was much higher in the 50’s and has suffered a gradual decline. This is indisputable and evident in national surveys and polls across the nation. Additionally, despite greater racial ‘equality’, there has been a relatively poor improvement in race relations during the last 40 years. These are the facts, do with them what you will.

As if the liberal state government has anything to do with the entrepreneurial and agricultural success of California. This growth is due simply to California’s natural resources and cultural appeal. It is a cog in a capitalist machine, and you seem to be implicating the left in its prosper?

This is simply not true. Many states allow anyone to purchase firearms without the need even to get a permit, let alone take any training.

Also, outside of Hollywood, people need constant training to maintain their skills and reflexes. It's not like riding a bike. It's also why untrained armed people are statistically much more of a danger to themselves and those around them than any incremental safety gains made by having a gun.

I'll let an Army vet explain it further. [Link]

There have been many examples in the US where concealed-carry civilians have stopped potential mass shootings. As many of the mass shootings happen in apparently 'gun-free' areas like schools, then it's even more important that campus employees are able to carry. The mass shooters will anyway.
