Yeah, not socialist at all. I mean expanding pensions, daycare centres and free national healthcare in the early thirties when he took over wasn't socialist for its time in any shape or fashion.

As for Putin, he's essentially a KGB man....calling him a fascist is just weird. He's an authoritarian....an Autocrat, he's also jailed nationalists so, none of this fits well.

I disagree.

It should be common knowledge now that the definition of the word fascist is amenable to those using it. It can range from a bin-man, sorry, waste disposal technician, who randomly espouses certain views to an authoritarian leader of a world superpower. I have come to understand it can also be used if you fail to articulate yourself properly on an internet forum these days

On pondering your words and on deeper reflection you seem to have described my local bin men with eerie accuracy.

Maybe there's some fascism test that they have to pass before they get their road blocking, bin slinging, strangely anti social jobs. I get the impression that if I slipped up on the road the fascist basstards would be throwing me in the crusher too.

The lengths that some people will go to to try to rewrite history in their own narrative is very revealing.

Hitler was a fascist. Fascists don't have a commitment to any particular economic ideology. They are entirely pragmatic and will adopt whatever strategy will drive forward their over-riding agenda. Placating the population, and getting them signed up to the cause, was just a means to an end. Hitler using socialism didn't make him a socialist.

Putin is no different. He has, for instance, offered Russian people cheap mortgages, but he controls the media, stops dissention and is about to enact a new law which will jail for 15 years anyone saying things about the army which doesn't match the official story. All policies designed to keep the people compliant whilst the over-riding agenda is followed. Fascist!

Not sure about a test, there are a few armbands floating about though I'm sure.

Can always broach a balcony, stick your chin out and wave your hands ferociously if in any doubt however.

I would largely agree with what you say about moustache man, though I don't really agree with the idea that using socialism doesn't make someone a socialist...I'd say it's some form of it...However, If you prefer social revolutionary I wouldn't disagree with that.

Putin is an authoritarian....he's heavily into ostracizing people who disagree with his way of doing things....sounds a bit familiar if you ask me.

They do.

Look at Hitler's. He was not socialist in anything he did. Now look at Putin's. His are very much aligned with fascist principals too.

Yes, I have found it odd that Putin is targeted on here as a "communist". Yup, grew up and out of communist USSR; but the only thing communist in his being is autocracy.

If the "Whites" had won the civil war, he would be their leader.

He is as nationalist, expansionist and as right wing as you can get. Makes his allegation that Ukraine are NAZIs all the more bizarre.

Quote Mayor compares Mariupol blockade to Nazi siege

The mayor of Mariupol says Russian troops encircling the southern port city have created a situation similar to the deadly Nazi siege of St Petersburg (formerly Leningrad) in World War Two.

"They are trying to create a blockade here, just like in Leningrad," said Vadym Boichenko.

The city's mayor says Russian troops have cut off the city's electricity, food, water and heating.

He said "they couldn't find a way to break us. So now they are trying to prevent us from repairing electricity, water and heating supply".

Russian forces destroyed a train connection so they can't evacuate civilians, he adds.

Temperatures are forecast to drop to -2C (28 Fahrenheit) this coming weekend.

As Mariupol is under siege maybe food aid acan be airlifted in?
The potential loss of life and the ongoing raizing to the ground of cities while the world watches is shameful.
Russia is cast further adrift from the rest of the world day by day, yet Putin show no signs of relenting. Ukraine will be raized to the ground. Total destruction. Mass refugees already being taken in by neighbours.
I cant see how this will end, because even if there is a ceasfire and Ukriane surrenders, the counrties who have sanctioned Russia wont lift them. Whats he going to do then, with a flattened watseland of a country to occupy, and a busted economy. I dont get it.
