It doesn't though have anything whatsoever to do with the point.

It's not what anyone says. It's about how people react to what they perceive is meant by what is said. As with other things it is all about behaviour. If we can engender better behaviour from a more careful use of language then we help to improve the situation. Right now we aren't. We are making it worse by creating division.

So you do believe in appeasement then.

Essentially with you it's not about a principle, it's just 'how do I feel about this group'.

Personally I couldn't give a damn about any group's feelings when it comes to reality. The facts on the ground should dictate what the reactions are to it......Not meaningless language that avoids reality.

So people commit appalling crimes and the authorities choose to ignore it but that is not the real issue, people using hurty words is the real danger.

It's not about labelling offenders, that's a deflection from the unwillingness to take admit one's actions. It's called Responsibility Deficit Disorder.

The comorbidity includes pomposity and self delusion.

Responsibility Deficit Disorder is a medical condition. Symptoms include inability to be corrected when wrong, false sense of superiority, desire to share personal info no else cares about, general hubris. It's a medical issue rather than pure arrogance.

WE's response has certainly matched the establishment's.

Essentially these are the children of people they don't consider important. Perhaps if the ethnicity were reversed it would be different.

Then it would become a virtue signal opportunity and the screaming and wailing would be continuous.

In this case the establishment is a very small group of MP's, media, councillors and police.

Unfortunately whilst small in number , huge in effect.

And the visually challenged e.g. turn a blind eye.

1. As the article states unpicking Brexit from Ukraine and COVID is tricky.
2. The OBR does not have a good reputation on forecasting, they maybe independent but they have yet to agree that 1+1=2.
3. A bump in the road was always to be expected we are trying to turn our economy away from the EU to the rest of the world. It takes time for businesses to wake up to the opportunities and we are still negotiating deals with other countries.

I think it is more realistic to look in about 5 years time.

1. That doesn't mean you don't bother trying or just dismiss any attempt to.
2. This is not an OBR forecast
3. 'A bump in the road' is probably not a reasonable way to describe a £40bn a year hole in the economy, particularly in light of all of the current stresses around cost of living, public sector earnings and failing public services.

The EU are constantly coming up with bureaucratic legislation that is supposedly 'one size fits all' yet unworkable in reality. The reality of the EU parliament and administration is they live in an ivory tower, far removed from the issues they legislate on. I worked with them for years. I can tell you from personal experience, they will not tolerate criticism. Here's another piece of legislation for everyone.

You could say exactly the same about our own Government who continuously spunk money on obviously unworkable ideas and are equally detached from the issues they legislate on - we're not exactly seeing an improvement in policy-making since leaving.

The other question is then whether avoiding one set of sh*t policy makers so we can trust our own set of sh*t policy makers is worth shrinking the economy by 4% and missing out on tens of billions a year in tax revenue.
