Is it the Russian version of 'The Dam Busters' I wouldn't be surprised if that's how it is presented to their public.

It looks like a bit like scorched earth to me, but it is more likely Russia means this war to last for as long as possible regardless.

The evidence seems to be that the Russians are happy to stretch it out while the Ukrainians are not....they are constantly having to justify the funding and show results.....Personally I don't think Biden wants this war still on his hands during the election season next year.

'Nigel' wasn't it?

Or in the overdubbed version of the movie that gets shown on TV, the dog is called 'Boy'.

What made me laugh was when they suggested that the Russians blew the dam up to stop the Ukrainians using the dam road to launch a counter offensive.

One road across a river....for a counter offensive.

Do they seriously think people are out to lunch?....actually I think they do.

Well quite. Whilst failing to point out that with the Russians happy to sit there and welcome on any and every Ukrainian attack, then all that water actually impacts on Russian fixed defenses like minefields and means that potential river crossings are easier now.

But of course, the Russians would just blow up a dam for the hell of it.

I doubt the Russians or the Ukrainians would have such sensibilities. Still in the news: quite a debate.

Whatever the military situation, Russia probably sees the war as a major benefit.
It can hike gas and oil prices to the West. It can strengthen ties with China. It can kill a few thousand convicts employed by Wagner. Russia must be raking it in.
And eventually, it will make permanent gains in Ukraine, whether by force or negotiation. More (potential) wheat fields and military enclaves.

And all the while, the West sees increased inflation, divisiveness amongst NATO, and the encouragement of African migrants to Europe.

Yep, probably the most stupid war I've ever lived to see.

Low quality elites.

Mainly as in the modern world there is no cost to the elites of failing as all the downside gets visited upon us plebs.

No one should really worry about this war. Eventually, the EU army spearheaded by the Irish will steamroller Kiev and then the Kremlin. Tactics will be a cross between Blitzkrieg and Deep Battle, yet subtly Japanese as we will be using bikes. Tanks and planes pollute guys.

The Irish are only there for the Vodka and duty free.....and about three decades of reconstruction work.
